Cape Cod Margarita

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We'll do it up Cape-style with some Cranberry Margaritas.

Frozen...
1/4 cup cranberry sauce (whole berry is best)
1 shot cranberry juice
1 1/2 shots tequila
1/2 shot triple sec
ice cubes

Blend until smooth and frosty.

Or on the rocks...
1 1/2 shot tequila
1 shot lime juice
1 1/2 shots triple sec
1 1/2 shots sweet and sour mix
2 shots cranberry juice

Shake and serve over ice

Garnish with dried cranberries, lime wheels, strawberries or mini-umbrellas.

Ole!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

This warm weather has gotten me thinking about ice cream. Whether it's Four Seas, or Sundae School, or Smitty's, Ice Cream Smuggler, Ben and Bills or Emack & Bolios, if you've spent any kind of time on Cape Cod, you've got your favorite ice cream shop.

So how about a little ice cream at a Cape Cod wedding?

Many of the Cape's ice cream parlors sell wholesale to caterers and venues, so you might just be able to have a lick or two of your favorite flavor at your wedding. Mine's Four Seas Coconut. What's yours?

Cape Cod Wedding Venue: Nauticus Marina

We'll keep up the nautical theme for a few more days.

{ the amazingly talented Cape Cod wedding photographer duo
Christine & Andy of Bello Photography }

Billowing nautical flags? Check.
Small-scale lighthouse? Check.
Docks leading out to luxury yachts? Check.
Sailboats slipping by? Check.
Sun set over the prettiest little inlet? Check.

There isn't much that Nauticus Marina, located in Osterville, doesn't have. This privately owned marina is available to rent for weddings of all sizes and shapes. Other than the lighthouse building (which has an impressively carved mahogany bar, by the way), there isn't any indoor facilities so a tent is required.

I've seen Nauticus dressed up in all kinds of ways - from white cotton and daisy simplicity to gold satin orchid opulence. But I love those weddings where the bride and groom embrace its inherent nautical-ness.

Derby Day

Any other horse lovers out there? The Kentucky Derby is one of my all-time-favorites. I mean, when else can you wear a big hat and drink bourbon all day?

Adding these to 'must include in dessert buffet' file.

Happy weekend!

A Bouquet for Today

I was just outside working in the garden, where I am so happy to see my beloved hosta plants are really starting to come in. (Beloved because they were given to me by a dear friend, whose mother grew them in her garden. And they were the first thing I planted at my new house.)

Then I came inside to find this bouquet. Made, I think, from hosta leaves?
